LIPTON YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
April 11, 2000

Prior to regular order of business, members present enjoyed a buffet and heard a  presentation, courtesy of Diadora.

Rich Gentile, G.M. of NJ Stallions was introduced and he presented to all delegates, “Youth Season Passes” to all Stallions soccer home games. These season passes were made available by Bob Franchini, Lynn Chevrolet, of our Wood-Ridge club. Many thanks go out to Bob who has been over the years a loyal supporter of our league and youth soccer in general. Delegates who were absent will be contacted so that they may receive their passes.

Metro Stars representatives also made a presentation of their various worthwhile ticket plans for our kids. Reference our annual Metro Star voucher program, those clubs that turned in their money were given vouchers to be used on Lipton YSL day at Giants Stadium which has been scheduled for June 17, 2000. On that date our division 1 girls and boys championship games will be played. All LYSL players will receive a voucher for a game and a Metro Stars tee shirt.

All delegates are reminded that this voucher plan is mandatory for all clubs, passed unanimously at regular meeting as was done in 1999. Nick Pagliaro is in charge of this program and he will again contact all clubs with the number of tickets they are responsible for. All monies must be in within two weeks.

All delegates were reminded that as part of our participation in this program we are eligible for a one day free clinic courtesy of the Metro Stars. These clinics are available on a limited basis. If interested, call the Metro Stars office.

The Metro Stars dribble, pass, and shoot competition is fast approaching, the first being on April 29 at Hillsdale. The remaining will be on May 6, Ridgefield Park; May 13 Wayne; and May 20 at Jersey City. The site locations and area coordinators were listed in previous minutes. The will also be listed on the website, www.liptonysl.org. All clubs are encouraged to enter as many children as possible, select players as well as rec. players. All players who participate will receive a voucher to a Metro Stars game of their choice.

Motion by Pascack second Meadowlands Utd. to accept the minutes of previous meeting, all in favor motion passed.

PRESIDENTS REPORT - Frank read letter from River Dell Soccer Association, requesting to enter our league. The have large number of players, with lighted fields that can accommodate small and full sided games. After discussion, motion Woodcliff Lake, second Pascack United to accept River Dell, all in favor motion carried.

Delegate Valerie Stephen, P.O. Box 251, River Edge, NJ 07661./201-599-1506.

Frank advised that arbitrator Andy DelVecchio is resigning at the end of the spring season due to work load and personal reasons.  We are still experiencing unauthorized game changes etc. by coaches. Delegates only can make changes. We will hold fast to league rules and forfeits will be in order for any violation. The registration of players is also a problem. Delegates should handle this job, if not, the person they appoint should be familiar with the system to avoid problems.

The fall 2000 season - U8; U9; U10 teams will be single year teams. Players will be allowed to play up. There also was a proposal to have a Saturday division in the Fall with night games suggested. This would assist us in relieving the strain on our poll of refs.

We are looking for a Division 6 Day this spring at the end of the season. A location is needed for clinics, medals, and pizza. Anyone who has a field call Frank.

Our annual mandatory AGM will be held on June 14, 6:30pm. Clubs must advise number of teams they are entering in each division for the 2000/01 season, so that we may order the proper amount of packages from the state.

Elections are coming, if anyone interested in running for a board position, you must submit your request 30 days prior. In addition by-law changes will be acted upon, any changes or additions must be submitted in writing 40 days prior.

Playoffs for the 2000 season - Lipton Cup - by standings.

President's Cup, Divisions 1; 2; 3; 4 - anyone interested in entering notify the board. We are in need of neutral fields for our Lipton Cup and Presidents Cup games. Sunday June 4 semi finals and Saturday June 10 finals for divisions 2; 3; 4. Finals for divisions 1 boys and girls to be played at Giants Stadium on Lipton YSL day.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT - Charlie reported that 297 persons attended our annual dinner/dance at the Wayne Manor, and a good time was had by all. Charlie asked if any club has another site in mind to hold our dinner dance if they desire, but in the meantime the Wayne Manor has been temporarily reserved for next year.

We are in need of updated club information for our journal, if no new information is received, the old will go back in.

TREASURER’S REPORT - Patty advised that opening balance was $68,647.96; payout 15,998.00 with ending balance $53,804.28. Motion by Paramus, second by Lyndhurst to approve, all in favor.

GAMES CHAIRMAN’S REPORT/Girls - Ken has all posted on the internet.

GAMES CHAIRMAN’S REPORT/Boys - Kevin has all posted on internet.

No one has advised the games chairmen about their state cup games. State cup games take preference over our league, but we must know in advance so that we can make schedule changes with the delegates.

REGISTRAR’S REPORT - Ernesto still has problems with form preparation, and persons showing who are unprepared. Again delegates must instruct the people on how to register players correctly.

The last day to register players is May 7, 2000.

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR’S REPORT - Frank introduced Peter Herrschaft, our new tournament director. Pete has been busy familiarizing himself with past tournament operations as well as seeing that things get going for this year. Pete reminded us that as per our by-laws each club is responsible for supplying 3 volunteers per day to assist in running our tournament. Those who do not will be assessed. Pete can be reached at 1-973-779-4445 or via Email PEH1957@msn.com. Assisting Pete is Dag Gonzalez, 201-935-3552. The next tournament meeting will be May 8 at 8pm, Wayne PAL.

REFEREE ASSIGNOR’S REPORT - Nick advised that coaches are still calling, and not delegates, this is against our rules. The parents at our games are driving our referees away because of abuse etc. The coaches are not controlling their parents. This will result in your club not getting refs assigned to your games.

We are still looking for game videotapes to be used as a training tool for our referees. If you have game tapes available call one of our three referee assignors.

OLD BUSINESS - we are still in negotiations with our possible sponsor for the upcoming 2000/01 season.

Our newsletter will be resurrected thanks to the sponsorship of Bob Franchini - Lynn Chevrolet.

Our new league name will be announced shortly after our league attorney searches the corporation records in N.J. Thanks to the people who submitted their suggestions via our website. About 1/4 of the submissions had all or part of the following contained within:
