LIPTON YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
April 14, 1999
Meeting called to order by President Giuliano 8:20pm at the Lyndhurst Polish American Hall. Reading of minutes from previous meeting, no additions, deletions, or corrections. All in favor.
Call of roll for delegates: Absent Paterson, Vistula, and Woodcliff Lake.
President's Report Frank reminded all that the meetings are to start at 7:30 and we have yet to start before 8:00pm, please try to be on time so that the meetings do not go till after 10:00pm.
There are still 15 clubs who have not paid for the MetroStars ticket vouchers. The motion was passed in September of 1998, and there were constant reminders at the meetings, telephone calls and in the minutes, please get your monies in so you can receive your vouchers. Remember the date for Lipton Youth Soccer Day at Giants Stadium is Saturday, June 12, 1999. On this day the Division 1 Girls and Division 1 Boys LYSL Cup championship games will be played at Giants Stadium, starting at 2:00pm.
All clubs are reminded that every player attending the games will be given a Metro Stars shirt, sizes for the players are needed ASAP. All delegates must call Nick Pagliaro, 201-440-8184 with the number of people attending the game with the appropriate sizes S; M; L please.
Delegates are also reminded that all players attending are asked to wear their respective LYSL uniform shirt.
To date, 5 division one teams have dropped from our league. What is the reason for this? Clubs are promising to enter and do not have nearly enough players. This causes extra work for our Games Chairmen, and now the schedule has to be reworked. Remember, if your club dropped after the schedule, as per the by-laws, bond is forfeit and there is an additional fine. You are also reminded that if your club is dropping the board MUST be officially notified via U.S. Mail or E-Mail. This has not been done in some cases.
There will be a coachs clinic given by the MetroStars, tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June3, 1999, at the Giants Stadium bubble. Times 7pm to 9pm.
At a recent state meeting we were advised that in 1998 approximately 20,000 players have changed teams. The state board felt that this is way too many, and to stop possible irregularities new and tougher rules will be instituted.
Frank requested that the league permit him to have a dedicated phone line installed at his place of business strictly for LYSL business. Frank has experienced his business phone tied up for many hours every month, incoming and outgoing calls, and this creates a hardship for him. This also would make it easier for the treasurer to note league business on the phone bill.
Motion by Paramus, second by the Stallions to have a line installed, all in favor, motion carried.
The treasurer will make the necessary arrangements.
Vice President's Report Charlie reports that the dance was a success, but there were too many no shows. In spite of personal calls to some clubs and promises to be at the dance within a few days of the dance, some still did not show. The appropriate amount of food and tables were contracted to accommodate the attendees and the no shows caused extra work and expenses for the league. Better cooperation and communication is requested for next years dinner/dance.
On the journal, all information MUST be in by the AGM, Wednesday, June 9 1999, this is also a regularly scheduled delegate meeting. If no new information is forthcoming, the old will be printed out of last years journal.
Treasurer's Report Al reports opening balance $30,591.37; Deposits and Credits 17,704.00; and after payouts (dance etc.) ending balance $26,266.17. Motion to accept Lyndhurst Youth, second Tenafly, all in favor, and motion passed.
Al stated that fines and fees still outstanding and have been for a long time. Frank states that if the monies are not in by April 18, 1999, forfeits will be in order.
Games Chairman (Boys) Report Dan distributed standings, outstanding fines, makeup schedules etc for small-sided division. Dan will be working on new division l schedule since we had so many dropouts. All teams will play a schedule to decide the two champs who will play on June 12 at Giants stadium. The schedule for Division 1 will start on Sunday 4/25/99. All clubs will be notified as to the new schedule. If you need to contact Dan you can use his E-Mail address DACHIL@AOL.COM
Games Chairman (Girls) Report Ken advised that again make up games are a key issue. We must make every effort to play. The league by-laws will be strictly enforced, and forfeits will be in order.
To date, Jersey City S.A. and the Clifton Stallions are the only division l girls teams entering the state cup. If there are any others, notify Ken ASAP.
In order to determine who will be playing the girls division l finals at Giants Stadium, fields will be needed, call Ken if you can volunteer fields for the playoffs.
Referee Assignors Report Mike reporting for Carmen advises that the referee assignors will no longer accept calls from team coaches. As per our by-laws, only delegates are to make these calls. There is too much confusion by having so many different persons making decisions as to game times and dates. Delegates only or game goes on and forfeits will be awarded.
There has been a problem with payment to referees. Our rules say the referee MUST be paid BEFORE the game by the HOME team.
If a referee does not call your club by Friday before the Sunday game, delegates must call the appropriate referee assignor to ensure that you have a referee for your game. If your assignor is not available, they have requested that you call one of the others so that they may assist in getting you a referee.
Divisions 1 and 2 Carmen Giuliano 973-684-2333
Divisions 3 and 4 Nick Pagliaro 201-440-8184
Divisions 5 and 6 Mike Coren 973-595-8006
Mike requests that if any teams have videotapes of any of their games he would like to use them for referee evaluation and instruction. Call Mike if you can accommodate him.
Select Team Report Jim - No Report
Tournament Directors Report Linda reports that the tournament METRO CUP will be held on Saturday July24 and Sunday July 25. The tournament committee is still waiting for the volunteer forms from each club to see whom you have designated so that assignments can be given out. The forms must be in by April 28 or your club will be fined in accordance with our by-laws. You can E-Mail Linda at LYN8631@AOL.COM or Fax her at 973-472-9062 ATTN LYNN.
Registrar's Report Ernesto is still experiencing problems with clubs who wish to register their teams. Wrong forms; incomplete forms; etc. It is apparent that the person who appears to register the team is not familiar with the process. The delegate or his designee, who is familiar with the process, should only come to register a team. If this problem persists your team will not be registered. Remember before you come, make sure that all forms are in the package and that they are complete.
Reminder, May is Executive board meeting only, next delegates meeting is Wednesday June 9, 1999, which is also the AGM. Meeting will be at Polish American Hall in Lyndhurst.
