RESCHEDULING OF GAMES

Games will only be rescheduled for Parade Events, Religious Holidays, Tournaments, and State Cup Games. It is not permissible to reschedule games because of other sporting or social activities. Game times must be adhered to as posted by the games chairperson. Game times can change at the discretion of the Games Chairperson if the need arises for field conflicts, referee assignments, weather, or an event that would cause the game to be completely rescheduled on a different day.

Games that need to be rescheduled (Parade Events, Religious Holidays, Tournaments, and State Cup Games) must be played within 10 days of the original scheduled date. Teams that need rescheduling consideration must notify the games chairperson (preferably by e-mail) 2 weeks before the needed change. Since these types of changes are known ahead of time: it is preferred to play these games before the scheduled date. The rescheduling of these games will be coordinated by the games chairperson and posted as needed.

Game Cancellations Due to Weather or Field Conditions - Guidelines

In the event that games must be cancelled due to inclement weather or temporary loss of permit (town will not allow field to be used) the following guidelines apply. Note: Delegates or Alternate Delegates are the only persons who can make contact with Opposing Clubs and League Officials.

  • The Delegate of the home team is to contact the delegate of the visiting team at least 3 hours before the scheduled game time. The Games Chairperson is to be contacted at the same time via telephone. If the 3-hour time period is not possible and the opposing team’s field is playable then the game automatically changes to the opposing team’s field. If possible, the same assigned referee should be contacted and go to the new game location. The games chairperson should be contacted via telephone once the decision has been made to reverse fields. In the event that the same referee can not go to the new field location then every effort will be made by the games chairperson and referee assignor to get a referee. If no referee is available then the game is still to be played following the Referee Assignment SOP.

  • If the opposing team’s field is playable then the delegates automatically schedule the game at the opposing team’s field. The games chairperson and referee assignor is to be contacted by the home team delegate. A referee will be assigned if possible and the original home team will make the payment to the referee.

  • If the opposing team’s field is not playable then the two delegates must come up with a tentative reschedule date. By Tuesday evening (2 days after the original game date) the two delegates must decide the makeup date and contact the games chairperson via e-mail or telephone (e-mail is preferred). If there is no agreed date by this time the games chairperson will decide the time and date of the game. The games chairperson will get a referee assigned for the game. The game must be made up within 10 days of the original date. In the event of poor weather on the makeup date then the game must be made up within 3 days. If the game can still not be played it must be rescheduled within 3 days again until the game is played. If the game is not made up in within the guideline of this policy then a double forfeit will occur and both teams will be fined according to the Fine Schedule.

*** NEW FOR 2003/2004 Season:

In the event a game cannot be played on the scheduled date, the home team must contact the appropriate Games Chairman at least 24 hours prior to the start of the game. Teams that don't adhere to this rule will be fined $25.00. That club must contact the League Administrator within the next 48 hours after the originally scheduled date and time of the game. If the club fails to do so within 48 hours, the Administrator will notify both affected clubs of the time and date that the game will be rescheduled.
